Why Indian Highways have different colours Milestone?

Who doesn't love to Travel, all of us must have taken some long journeys in our life at some point or other either it is Air route or it is By Road. By road journey has its own fun Long long journeys.....  And stop at middle or have something to eat drink rest for sometime but one thing that we all notice is that it that milestones of the highways.

And we wonder at one thing that why these milestones have different colours after some of route pass and the other milestones have different color,  so let's find out what these milestones colours tell us by there colours. 

 So let's start ,

1) The Orange and White  coloured Milestones indicate that you are Moving at any village area.  The strip also represents Pradhan Mantri gramin Sadan yojna. 

2)  yellow and white colour milestones indicate that you are traveling on national highway. 

3) the green and white colour milestones indicate that you are traveling on a state highway. 

4)  Black and white colour milestones represents that you are traveling on the City or district Highway.
